Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 5, 2026

Hobihop Travel Inc. ("Hobihop," "we," "us," or "our") is a British Columbia, Canada company (BC Corporate Registry #BC1488905). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information across hobihop.com, the HobiPlay family discovery game, and community.hobihop.com (together, the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Policy.

1. A note for parents

HobiPlay is designed for children to use under the account and supervision of a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian creates the Hobihop account, and the child then uses a linked Explorer profile within HobiPlay.

We collect deliberately little information through a child's Explorer profile:

  • Children choose an Explorer nickname — we ask for a first name or made-up name only, not a full last name, school, or other identifying detail.
  • Children choose an avatar from a fixed set of illustrated characters. There is no photo upload or user-generated image.
  • HobiPlay does not include chat, messaging, or any way for a child to communicate with other users or strangers.
  • We do not run advertising of any kind and do not sell personal information.

2. Information we collect

From the parent or account holder:

  • Name and email address.
  • Sign-in information. Hobihop.com offers Google sign-in and Facebook sign-in for account access. community.hobihop.com, our separate community forum for parents and travelers, also uses Facebook sign-in.

From use of the Service:

  • HobiPlay progress data tied to the Explorer profile — passport entries, wallet contents, badges earned, and discoveries made while exploring destinations and experiences.
  • Usage and analytics information collected through Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console, including pages visited, approximate location at the city or region level (derived from IP address), device and browser type, and general interaction patterns. This information is used in aggregate to understand and improve the Service, not to build advertising profiles.
  • Standard technical logs (IP address, timestamps, error logs) used for security and troubleshooting.

We do not collect payment information, as the Service does not currently offer in-app purchases. We do not collect precise location data or government identification.

3. How we use information

We use the information described above to:

  • Provide and operate the Service, including saving HobiPlay progress across sessions and devices.
  • Communicate with the account holder about the account and the Service.
  • Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve the Service.
  • Maintain the security of the Service and prevent misuse.
  • Meet applicable legal obligations.

We do not use children's information for advertising, and we do not sell personal information to third parties.

4. Third-party service providers

Hobihop relies on the following providers to operate the Service. Each receives only the information needed to perform its function:

These providers' own privacy practices govern any data they process on our behalf, in addition to this Policy.

5. Cookies and similar technology

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, support basic site functionality, and measure usage through Google Analytics 4. You can manage cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies entirely may affect your ability to remain signed in.

6. Data retention

We retain account and HobiPlay progress data for as long as the account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward, unless you request deletion sooner or retention is required by law.

7. Data security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including the security practices of our infrastructure providers, to protect information from unauthorized access.

8. Your rights and choices

As the parent or account holder, you may:

  • Request access to the personal information associated with your account and your child's Explorer profile.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Withdraw consent for optional features, such as a linked sign-in method.

To exercise these rights, contact us at admin@hobihop.com.

9. International data transfers

Some of our service providers process or store information outside Canada, including in the United States. By using the Service, you understand that information may be transferred to and processed in a country other than your own, which may have different data protection laws.

10. Children's privacy

We take particular care in how HobiPlay handles information from children. As described in Section 1, the Explorer profile is designed to minimize what is collected directly from a child, a parent or guardian holds the account, and HobiPlay does not include chat, messaging, or other features that would expose a child to contact with strangers. If a parent believes more information was provided than intended — for example, a full name entered as an Explorer nickname — please contact us at admin@hobihop.com and we will remove it.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" above reflects the most recent update. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
